As part of the Carinya of Bicton’s organizations looking at other avenues to provide the very best care for our ageing population, it was apparent that the standard of agency staff being employed to work as agency staff was in many cases below standard, with limited training and knowledge in the care of frail aged persons.
In 2001 we commenced Aged Care Staffing Agency and provided 1 weeks training prior to staff being given a shift. With the shortage of both trained staff and experienced care staff in aged care we have to be proactive in addressing the problem.
